Frequently Asked Questions:
WHY DOES THE COST OF LESSONS SEEM MORE EXPENSIVE THAN OTHER SWIM LESSONS?
When you account for ALL aspects of what you are getting, it is actually not more expensive. Keep in mind, you are buying private lessons for your child. Your child's lessons are one-on-one with the instructor's undivided attention instead of your child waiting on the wall or steps with other non-swimmers all the time being in danger of drowning. Typically, in just 4-6 weeks, your child will have a fighting chance to survive an aquatic accident along with the fundamental skills to safely enjoy the water. Not to mention the peace of mind you get knowing your child is water safe, and this part, no amount of money can buy.
WHY DO YOUR LESSONS WORK WHEN OTHERS HAVE FAILED?
The reason our lessons are so effective is that we have a professional skilled instructor teaching a proven method developed over nearly 40 years, and an individualized approach to maximize your child’s learning experience.
HOW LONG ARE THE LESSONS?
Lessons are approximately 15 minutes long per child. Remember that lessons are private and infants / toddlers / young children have short attention span. There may be days when lessons are shortened just depending on the child's condition as we prioritize health above all. With a professional instructor who is effective in teaching, 15 minutes is a great amount of time.
ARE YOUR LESSONS SAFE?
Yes. We have a professional instructor teaching your child who has over 100 hours of in-water / hands-on training and education in child development and behavior. Also, our instructor is American Red Cross Adult & Pediatric First Aid / CPR / AED certified.
WILL MY CHILD'S FACE GO IN / UNDER THE WATER? WHAT IF MY CHILD CRIES?
Yes. Real swimming involves the child's face being fully submerged in water. Remember that children cry for many reasons, not getting what they want, being hungry, being tired etc. & if one of them is to learn a life-saving skill, parents should be supportive of that and not give in to their cry.
SHOULD MY CHILD WEAR A SWIM DIAPER?
Yes, for children who are not fully potty trained for at least six (6) straight full months. We have a particular brand, SPLASH ABOUT HAPPY NAPPY that is tried & tested in the industry that PREVENTS FECAL / POOP LEAK should an accident happen in the pool. This is a reusable swim diaper that must fit very snug around the waist and legs. Click on the link or copy and paste to your browser: https://us.splashabout.com
EAR INFECTIONS?
There are two types of ear infections, one is caused by middle ear build-up secondary to Eustachian tube congestion & the other is caused by pool or bath water not drying up in the outer ear canal “Swimmers’ Ear”. To prevent the latter, ask your pediatrician about the use of ear drops that are available at your local pharmacy. Swimming does not cause the middle ear infections. Children with ventilation tubes must first get a medical clearance from their pediatrician before starting swim lessons and should wear ear plugs, a tight fitting cap, and should not swim deeper than a foot below the surface of the water.
