More children ages 1-4 die from drowning than any other cause of death.

Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 5-14.

Every year in the United States there are over 4,000 unintentional drowning deaths.

There are around 300,000 annual drowning deaths worldwide.

Drowning disproportionately impacts children and young people. Children aged under 5 years account for nearly a quarter of all drowning deaths.

Drowning is the fourth leading cause of death for children aged 1–4 years and the third leading cause of death for children aged 5–14 years.
No one person is drown-proof no matter their skill in water
but teaching children the life-skill of survival swimming
can reduce the risk of drowning.
